Christian Art
I enjoy finding ways to create an image of Christian concepts. It helps me study them and understand them better. It is my prayer that in some way these images will minister to you too. —Mark Bowers

Moral Compass — I find a sense of peace to consider God’s character as my moral compass. On my own I stumble around in the gray mysterious areas of life. Even in the black and white of absolute right and wrong, the depths of my being may try to justify replacing wrong with what feels good. Looking to His character as a guide is incredibly helpful. Following His example of kindness, understanding, forgiveness, generosity, faithfulness and love may be uncomfortable, but the resulting sense of peace will stand the test of time.

God is Good All the Time — We love to feel in control of our comfortable lives. Then a hardship comes along that shatters our comfort and challenges what we believe. Like a crucible, it can be used to burn off the impurities and leave behind the pure gold. In short, leaning into God’s heart will lead to a better more whole sense of well being. Everything good that you could ever want to be is found there. He is gracious to every searching soul to purge our impurities and replace them with the best of his heart. When exiting the crucible, we come out better than before. This process has convinced me that God is good all the time!

John 3:16 — “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 ESV ) The light image coming down from the top represents heaven. Since God gave, there is something missing there. Then His son is charged in our place on the cross just for us. Those who believe in this exchange are coming out of darkness and into new life with God the Father.”

God’s Delightful Companion — Knowing someone is glad to be in your company brings a sense of acceptance. This companionship has joy in it. They both share in life’s ups and downs while still experiencing the joy of each other’s company. Then there is God, the Almighty Creator who welcomes us so that we can be in His company. There is great joy in knowing that God delights in being with you!

Faith — “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.“ All these little parts are repurposed into something new. They are brought together in a meaning way where collectively there is greater purpose. Exercising faith to lean into God’s character is like that. The little parts of life, good and bad are repurposed into the greater good of God.

The View is Always Better from the High Road — It is so easy to fall into moods like anger and jealousy and then do or say the wrong thing. Lean into the character of God/the Fruit of the Spirit and you will grow, be more loving and make better decisions.

God’s Word — “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105 ESV) God’s Word sheds light on His loving character, giving us a path to whole and meaningful life. However, we are self centered, tangible human beings that struggle with our faith. Notice that each side of the candlestick is a silhouette of a face. This symbolizes the spiritual warfare within, even while knowing what is right. Choosing God’s Word is light, life, creativity, loyalty, forgiveness, kindness, patience, wisdom and love. Ask God for the strength to protect you from yourself and wisdom to choose His path.

Path of Life — Psalm16:11. Navigating through life's memories, values and choices with the Almighty God (who loves you) comes with fulness of joy!
